THOMAS LEE

Director of Data Science, UC Berkeley Haas School Fisher Center for Business Analytics

Thomas Y. Lee is Director of Data Science at the UC Berkeley Haas School Fisher Center for Business Analytics and Associate Adj Professor of Operations and Information Technology Management. Tom's research intersects data science with innovation and new product development. Specifically, he develops and applies text and sequence mining methods for analyzing user-generated content that reflect both what customers say and what they do. He teaches undergraduate and MBA courses on analytical decision making and also on product design. He served as a Data Science Research Fellow at frog Design and also worked with Cooper Design. Most recently, he has helped design the Haas curriculum in business analytic and architect the computing infrastructure to support that program. Previously, he was assistant professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from MIT's Engineering Systems Division and B.A. and B.S. degrees in Political Science and Symbolic Systems (Artificial Intelligence) from Stanford University.
